Well,Well,Well....

Since the slipway dilemma I have been caught inside the Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter where I no longer have a mooring. My other moorings are in other shelters... BUT since the shipyard did not have time to make the aft saloon deck and ribs secure. I am not fully seaworthy and my insurance is void outside the Typhoon Shelter right now... Where to put the vessel without being harassed by the Marine Department... I have ONE running engine, and friends to help move her as we need... That plan works HaHaHaHa

"One day at a time" is the only option right now... but all work, too much Stress, and no play make Alan a DULL Boy... Time to go fishing !

Alan,

Not so bad you have mates in the area that can help you out, mooring wise etc etc. When are you getting the structural timbers sorted? Seems like number one priority.

Cracking days fishing, enjoyed the views also.
Very Happy

Hello,

Lumber is ordered from the lumber mill. Just waiting to take delivery and begin !!

Keep in mind, they are cutting my order from an aged log they have at the mill just for boats (same as what the shipyards get). This is not pre-cut stock 2x4's of pine Very Happy

Hello,

I believe we can close the chapter of "Building Self-Contained Tomato Hydroponic Systems for 50 foot Chinese made Teak Boats"...

All parts have arrived... now it is all up to the Tomato Plants !!!!

I still need to finish the Lettuce and Herb Hydroponic system... Should not be too long, now that I see what I can build with available parts !!!!

Hello,

Been so focused on the Hydroponics, and trying to enjoy some fresh veg on the boat... finally stopped fussing over it, and let the drip rail system just run... It got worse before it got better, but happy to report the drip rail system in producing nice lettuce, Choi Sum, and Basil. I'm going to make a few changes to the Tomato systems before I get that going again !!!

I have gone back to my focus on the boat restoration !!! Bow is looking sexy ! Will make a video once the polyester urethane paint dries !!!

Here is the video's of the roller coaster ride of hydroponics before I just let it do it's own thing !!!

Looks like you have been staying pretty busy. And yes,, I am still alive lol. not doing real good. a few trips to the hospital but I am still kicking. I got the free up grade for windows 10 so I lost all contacts from the up grade. had to go back thru a old computer hard drive to find contact info. anyway, I got logged in. no videos up loaded since the bad health problems, I am just taking things slow. See ya later on SD.

Hello,

Been a while since I updated this thread. It has been a fun summer with ups and downs, as well as incorporating new kit to make living without the electric company... here are a few videos of what has been going on...

We had a few cocktails one weekend, and wanted to have fun showing our opinion on the stupidity of one of the fake 'DO IT YOURSELF' off grid e-beggars...

We had a typhoon that gave us 5 days of crap weather, and we monitored our power wisely so there was no need to use the petrol generator to top up our batteries.. a battery monitor is worth its weight in gold.

Have a great weekend...

Looks like your getting a lot of work done. You always get the good stuff lol. Buddy, there for a bit, I did not think I was going to be around any more. for a while I just sat at the computer trying to hang on, and having a hell of a time with medical treatments. anyway, I can almost breath normal, there for a bit, was like trying to breath thru a really longgggg straw. Winter time is here now. and that means a hell of a lot of rain. makes it easy to keep the solar panels clean lol. I still have 1040amp hour 24 volt battery bank. I did switch out your disconnect to experiment with the solar panels just so I know how by putting them in pairs of 2, so I have 3 sets of two. going to run that for a year, and see how it may differ from the other set up. I still have all the wires up there to run back thru if it does not work. just fun to try new stuff. anyway, going to look over any new postings since I have been gone so long, catch ya later on SD!

Hey SD,

Good to have you back. I totally understand the health thing. I had a heat stroke this summer while working in the engine room. My health is taking forever to bounce back.

It is always a a good thing to find the best way to get the most of the power you can make. We are all about experiments LOL

I'm wiring up the boat now that the weather is cooler. I have been mostly on the port side, so now to move on to the starboard side... but this brings me to the plumbing and LPG pipes for a shower as well. Here is a new video about that and my tankless water heater that I have made for my needs.

Pretty good job on the set up. I have to get a few new things here to change out a few parts on my set up. ill need to find two brake switches for the wind turbines and some bridge rectifiers over 100 amps. I filed a complaint with BBB in Missouri stating I was mislead by the owner saying everything was built in the united states. more then likely I will be sending anything purchased from them back which was a lot of stuff. right now I am only using 3 rectifiers , one charge controller and two brake switches. the dump load on one of them has been sticking on so I shut that controller off and have the brake switch turned on that wind turbine. lots of problems with his equipment.
