Hello,
My newest Project is to restore a 1982 Bertram FBMY (Flybridge Motor Yacht).
To make use of the available space, I will be installing a fibreglass hard top. It will have the solar for 12v and 24v, as well as 2 VAWT I am also having made.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The hardtop will have the panels, VAWT's, and required navigation gear placed as seen in the drawing.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The multiple fin style VAWT, should be the most efficient, and in theory should become a post to the wind at wind speeds of 35+ knots to eliminate the need for braking.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The VAWT's are based on a 15 blade vertical cylinder using 3 main rings. Each PMG is 600w and the shaft is 38mm (1.5 inch) diameter to fully support the blades in the centre.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]The 150W and 300W panels are a standard Polycrystalline that work well in the sub-tropical area of Hong Kong where I am based.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]This should be a very self reliant vessel, and make for a very comfortable vessel at sea, or at the mooring !
Off to work I go !
